The newest Windows application is the MyDefrag utility. MyDefrag, previously known as JKDefrag not just organizes fragmented files, it optimizes the hard drive and also allows you to perform automatic defragmentation. This tool will take sometime to fully defragment, but its efficiency over defragmentation by all means out weighs that by any means. To get started with MyDefrag, download and install this software.
When starting your computer, first find and open your Control Panel. In that Control Panel, double-click on My Computer to open the folder that contains My Computer, My Documents, My Videos, My Music, My Pictures, My iPod, My External Storage and My Game Consoles. You will now see My Defragmenter in the left pane. If you do not see this application, click and drag it onto the My Computer window. After selecting My Defragmenter and clicking OK, you will now be taken back to the folder where you installed MyDefrag. To begin defragmentation, select the Defragment button to display the menu.
Click on the Options button, which will open the dialog box for changing the settings. Once you have finished, click on the Apply button to save the changes. When you are ready to restart your computer, click on the Restart button and then click the Startup tab to start up your computer. You should be able to see a new folder on the My Documents folder that displays My Defragmenter. Click on the MyDefrag button to begin the program.
